About The Chef
and
Testimonials
Chef Rob has been cooking professionally since around 1989. He wasn't
really sure what he wanted to do in life until he was offered a prep cook
position at The Lake Café. Once he stepped foot in that kitchen, there was
no looking back. Rob went from prepping to cooking on the line and then
eventually becoming Sous Chef in a matter of four years.

It was after all of this that Chef Rob decided to make a move to learn a
little more about his new found craft. He went down south for the winter to
Jupiter, Florida to work as a seasonal chef in a Caribbean style restaurant
called The Abaco Grille. When that kitchen closed after the season, Rob
travelled north to Nantucket. Massachusetts for the summer. It was there
that he honed his skills at the world renowned Ropewalk. Then the summer
was over and  that kitchen was closed for the season.

It was finally time for Chef Rob to come home and show Staten Island what
he loved to do. CREATE!!!!!

Chef Rob became the Head Chef at The Lake Café in Cloves Lake Park for
the next eight years until they had to close their doors forever in January
2002.

Chef Burmeister accomplished a lot in those eight years. Rob was written
up several times in the Staten Island Advance. He also was featured in
articles in Time Out New York Magazine, The Register, The North Star,
Staten Island Health and Restaurant Guide and The Staten Island Star
Reporter. He has had recipes published in numerous periodicals, done
cooking expo's , won cooking contests and judged recipe contests. Rob has
also lent his skills to help raise money for many charities including The
Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance, Project Hospitality, Newman's Own Inc.,
American Heart Assoc., American Cancer Assoc., NYU School Of Medicine,
Staten Island Leukemia Foundation, The Eger Foundation, The American
Lung Assoc.,Juvenile Diabetes and more.

Since The Lake Café closed in 2002, Chef Rob has been spending most of
his time in the catering game as well as building his Personal Chef Service
known as "EDIBLE PRODUCTIONS". It is through his new company that he
will serve not only Staten Island, but Brooklyn and parts of New Jersey. In
time he will also try to expand his services as far as they will go , as long as
there are customers that want him to bring their families together again
with Home Style Dinners.

Chef Rob Burmeister is certified by the Health Dept. Of  NYC for Food
Safety and Handling. He also is a member of The United States Personal
Chef Association.
